Olimpos is an ancient Lycian city that lies about 28 km west of Kemer, 5-10 minutes’ walk from the famous Çıralı holiday resort; it is a must-see holiday town and archaeological site with its natural beauties, historical ruins and beach. The ancient city of Olympos, which is located on both sides of the Akçay Stream, dates back to the Hellenistic period. It is one of the biggest cities of the Lycian region. The Roman Temple, the Acropolis and the Rock Tombs are historical monuments that you can visit in the archeological site. It is also worth seeing Yanartaş, a site located 230 meters high, right next to Olympos, that is famous for its fire burning with gas leaking among the cracks. Here, the fire that burns between the rocks is associated with a fire-breathing entity in ancient times. It is also possible to reach Yanartaş from Çıralı through a walk in the nature by climbing for half-an-hour.
